I am on my 5th week of short-term disability post-myomectomy. The medical leave is necessary for full recovery as what I had was a laparotomy procedure. Prior the scheduled surgery,I did some preparations to combat the anticipated boredom of staying at home doing "nothing." The surgeon's early instructions include no aerobics or long walks, driving, lifting anything more than 10 lbs., and the constant family reminder to avoid frequent stair climbing at home. The early days after the procedure, I mostly stayed on bed and the couch because of the moderate pain and body weakness.
Friends and relatives advised me to watch series on TV, specifically Korean or K dramas. I tried to watch Queen of Stars but after four episodes, I jumped to the last one just for the heck of knowing the ending. I don't know but this kind of shows makes me feel nauseated.
I have novels borrowed from a cousin and the nearby city library. I finished random movies on Netflix, Prime Video and even YouTube. But the most notable series that grabbed my curiosity and attention was Young Sheldon on Netflix.
Oh, was I hooked!!! Sheldon Cooper is a darling. His over the roof intelligence with science is unimaginable, he knows very well he is "special." It is the whole cast though that I like so much. The Cooper house in Medford, Texas is now a part of my home on a daily basis. I often laugh out loud with the characters' dialogue and acting, I had to support my incision site as it hurts when I giggle more than the average. Oh Missy dear, you are my mini- me with all your flair, smart remarks, hairstyle and dresses. You are my imaginary daughter, darling.:)
I go radio silent on social media, I haven't been with friends lately. I rarely come out of the house. A few family gatherings, grocery errands, short walks at the park, salon visit for haircut and pedicure, Sunday masses I do here and there. I try to savor afternoon naps, cook a meal, organize summer clothes too.
I am here to say that it is Young Sheldon that serves as my most enjoyable company lately. I get by and find no agonizing boredom while I continue to get back in shape. Sheldon and family keep me away from the possibility of depression and isolation. The show has ended its final season (Season 7) a month ago. I am now on Season 3. I take my time.Truth be told, I avoid bingeing coz honestly I am in no way ready and prepared to bid goodbye to the loving, fun and solid Cooper household.
Thank you to the creators of this awesome show. I am a fan.
Now let me turn on the TV and resume watching Young Sheldon.:)
Sheldon. Missy. Cooper.
