Flexibility. Adaptability. Transparency.
Back in Philippines, I have tight ties with a few Catholic priests. I got it from my mother and her best friend, my Tita Becks and their COMI friends. Priests would be in our homes for breakfast, lunch or dinner in ordinary days and special occasions.
Once I had Starbucks coffee date with eight priests and I candidly told them, I felt so holy I hope all my past sins were absolved that moment. I still keep in touch with my hometown priests, whether to simply Hi or ask for their guidance and prayer support. They all remain to be caring to me.
Now here is my most current spiritual ally- Fr. Cris Subosa, the pastor of the parish where I regularly attend Eucharistic celebrations. We first met when I requested for blessing of my new SUV- Niknok.:) It is a breeze to communicate with him, he makes time for his parishioners. He drafted a certificate of parish registration for me, saved a last-minute date for a goddaughter's baptism and recently, welcomed our visiting uncle- priest, Tito Among Ching, to co-celebrate with him in one Misa De Gallo (dawn mass) and on Christmas Day.
It is an easy feat for me to connect and communicate with holy men of God. I got it from Mamang and Tita Beck. They love to take care of them, and unconsciously, that is what I do too. My relatives and friends jokingly say, " Dakal ya seseng pari i Mitzi." :)
I am an imperfect lady with sins yet all the priests close to my life accept me for who I am, my sassiness, peskiness and childish behavior. I know that they include me in their prayers and I can always ask for their spiritual help for anything my heart desires.
Hi Ma, meet Fr. Cris.:)
